I am a Jewish educator and simcha officiant based in Los Angeles, CA.
I am presently a rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles, and I spent my first year at the Jerusalem campus. Prior to HUC, I was a therapist, counselor, coach and consultant, following a 20+ year career in health care, non-profit administration and communications. I have been a writer for a Jewish community blog since 2010. My work can be seen here. Additionally my personal blog can be found here.
My mission is to help people engage in meaningful living through: Mind: Torah in its most expansive definition Soul: Prayer and spiritual development Action: Bringing Jewish values to life
My professional interests include pastoral care, spiritual direction and engaging with people to live their best Jewish lives.
I grew up in northern Michigan, graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in English Education, and spent the next 13 years living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I worked for a number of years in the high-technology sector before moving to Minnesota and completing a Master of Social Work Degree at St. Catherine University & the University of St. Thomas. After working as a mental health professional and a non-profit leader, focusing mostly on the uninsured and under-served, I gradually began to discern my calling to serve the Jewish people and others as a rabbi in the Reform Movement.
I live with my husband Jon, and our adorable Poochon Charlie. We can be seen walking the dog and being emotionally blackmailed by him in public many evenings and weekends.
